Frequently Asked Questions about GIFT’s Fall 2020 Closing

Why is GIFT closing its doors?

GIFT paused all programming in 2018 to focus on organizational stability and to take intentional time to research, “What do our grassroots movements need right now?”.

After many stakeholder interviews and valuable input from organizers in the field, GIFT came to the conclusion that it would close its doors in 2020, making space for new solutions and innovations to come forward. GIFT is proud to support the work of entities such as Community-Centric Fundraising, Wealth Reclamation Academy of Practitioners, Movement Commons (Justice Funders), and many more emergent projects that further expand on GIFT’s mission to build the fundraising capacity for our social movements.

In Fall 2020, GIFT transitioned the Grassroots Fundraising Journal to the Nonprofit Quarterly. NPQ was often a partner with the Grassroots Fundraising Journal in marketing, writing and research over the years, and it is entirely appropriate that this collection ended up here. Visit the archive.

Where can I find articles from the Grassroots Fundraising Journal?

What are some recommended resources for grassroots fundraising knowledge?

GIFT has cultivated relationships with a brilliant network trainers, consultants, and educators over the years. Below are just a few places where you can learn more about grassroots fundraising grounded in social justice values:

I attended the Money for Our Movements Conference and really gained a lot from it. Will this ever happen again?

GIFT is supportive of entities like Allied Media Projects, Stories + Money = Change, Community-Centric Fundraising who have successfully convened attendees from all over the country on the topic of resourcing our movements. We encourage you to follow these groups for upcoming events and convenings, as well as local chapter formations.
