Grassroots Fundraising Journal
The Grassroots Fundraising Journal was published from January 1982—August 2018. During those decades, it earned a reputation for helping activists understand the relationship between fundraising and organizing, and helped thousands of organizations build power to demand change by building a base of individual donors who were also constituents. The case studies proved that no organization needed to take foundation grants for work that was not part of the core mission, and that even small organizations could raise big money.
In September 2019, members of the Journal’s Editorial Board came together as a working committee to focus on next steps for the Grassroots Fundraising Journal, a beloved publication with a history of over 35 years. We have paused publication indefinitely and our last issue was July-August 2018. While there are no current plans to produce new articles, we know that thousands of people continue to find the fundraising information, case studies, and how-to instructions valuable.
Given that, we are thrilled to share that the full archive of the Journal is now available free to the public. by freeing up access to the archive, we can continue to spread fundraising knowledge and lift up the work of sustaining grassroots organizations.
GIFT is grateful to the Nonprofit Quarterly for providing a home for this archive and assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of it. NPQ was often a partner with the Grassroots Fundraising Journal in marketing, writing and research over the years, and it is entirely appropriate that this collection ended up here.
