GIFT believes it is important to analyze and make accessible practical
information related to grassroots fundraising, the politics of
philanthropy and fundraising, philanthropy and fundraising in communities
of color, and the connections between fundraising and progressive
movement-building.
The GIFT report “The Politics of Philanthropy and Social
Change Funding: A popular review of the literature” by Lisa
Durán is available to the public. In this 2002 report, Lisa
Durán communicates her findings from a literature review
of existing material on communities of color and the role that
foundations have played in social movements. For a copy of the
report, please contact GIFT at (510) 452-4520 x 305 or priscilla@grassrootsfundraising.org.
